A deciduous native wetland shrub named for its brilliant red berries that persist through winter and attract birds. Great for ditches and around ponds and streams. Buy a few because they are dioecious and only the female plants produce berries- and at this small size, we’re unable to determine which ones are which. They grow up to 12′ tall, need wet soil, and prefer full sun to part shade. Purchase size: bare root seedling, about 12-24″ tall.
